Leftovers
Clean up what your coding agents left running: a free, open-source macOS menu-bar app.
- Problem
- Coding agents kept leaving dev servers, builds and MCP servers running; memory and swap filled up and my Mac ground to a halt.
- Status
- Actively working on it: one menu-bar app shows what agents left behind and cleans it up safely. Free and open source.
- Leftovers - Cleaning up after your agents
(September 2026, macOS)
Like kids running through a house, each agent session grabs a plate and runs off, leaving it on the table.
- The case that started it: a video-encoder helper showing 7 MB in RAM while holding a 59 GB footprint, idle for four days
- Measures each process's real footprint (RAM + compressed + swapped), which Activity Monitor hides
- Memory per coding-agent session (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor Agent, Aider, OpenCode), including every MCP server each one started
- Finds likely leaks with a plain-language reason, and quits them all in one step
- Frees disk safely: developer caches that rebuild themselves, unused Docker images, old simulators, AI model downloads, and git worktrees already merged to main (even squash-merged)
- Free and open source on GitHub, written in Swift; 14 releases in its first two days
